Regretfully, this trip is drawing to an end. We spent the last days in Japan back in Tokyo and visited the
Imperial Palace. It is located in the heart of Tokyo and is surrounded by a garden. Although my camera does not do it justice, the image below is one of the popular depiction of the palace.
To even get near the palace, you must cross a wide moat to step foot onto the gardens that the palace is located on. Even being located in the center of a metropolitan city like Tokyo, it was relatively quiet and peaceful.
The palace is where the sitting imperial family lives, so do expect to see heavy security as you are walking around the area. By the main gates, you may be able to witness a changing of the guard ceremony which roughly takes about a minute and a half.
If you have a couple of hours to spare, I would suggest heading to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building located in Shinjuku. There is a skywalk located over 200 meters above the ground which connects the two sides of the building together. The view looking up from the lobby to the skywalk.
Looking at the skywalk from the floor which the buildings connect.
Looking down at the lobby.
The building also has a spectacular view of Tokyo. On a clear day, you truly get to see how vast the city of Tokyo is and that it appears to be never ending.
From the other side of the building, you can see how large the garden is where the Imperial palace sits on within the city limits of Tokyo.
