Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi

One of the most iconic views of Japan, is of course, Mt. Fuji which is located about 80 miles southwest of Tokyo. We ended up taking the 2.5 hour trip by bus to get to Kawaguchiko a town adjacent to Lake Kawaguchi and spent a night in the area. Kawaguchiko is about 10 miles north of Mt Fuji.

The official climbing season for Mt. Fuji is in July and August which is also about the time of year where the temperature fluctuates at around 100 degree Fahrenheit. Apparently it's about a 4 hour hike to the summit and individuals can spend the night in huts on Fuji. I will have to leave that for another visit.

Instead, we took a cable car which started at the base of Lake Kawaguchi and climbed one of the mountain side that the lake is surrounded by.

Once the ride was over, we continued to climb to the top of the mountain to get a better view of the area, and traverse our way to the highly recommended area to get a glimpse of Fuji. Once we made it to the top after some navigational confusion with the lack of directional signs, we were able to enjoy Mt. Fuji. Although it was hazy, the picture does not do it justice.
